Gene K. Landy is a shareholder of the firm. His practice is concentrated on companies in digital technologies and media. Mr. Landy is Chair of the firm’s Technology Business Group. Gene is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard Law School.
Gene is the author of an entrepreneur’s guide to digital technology and media law, published by Elsevier in June 2008. The book, The IT/Digital Legal Companion, is available on amazon.com (including a Kindle edition) and other online book selling sites.
Gene handles domestic and international transactions for high technology businesses, from start-ups to publicly traded companies. Gene has represented companies in software, web technologies, cloud services, mobile applications, integrated circuits, data analytics, photovoltaics, telecommunications technology, digital entertainment, IT hardware, e-commerce, games, and other technology fields. His work includes licensing, intellectual property, technology transfer, business sales and acquisitions, and investments.
Gene is active in mentoring startup and emerging technology companies, including participation as a volunteer mentor in the MIT Venture Mentoring Service, the MIT Enterprise Forum Smart Mentoring Program, and the Mass Challenge competition.
Gene frequently lectures on legal topics. He is also the author of an earlier layperson’s guide to software law entitled The Software Developer’s and Marketer’s Legal Companion, published by Addison-Wesley in the fall of 1993, as well as various articles on technology law.
