Brad Croft Quoted in Lawyers Weekly

Brad Croft was quoted in the article titled Non-client can’t sue lawyer over bad deal ‘Reasonable reliance' requirement imposed written by Jack Dew:

Bradley L. Croft, a lawyer at Ruberto, Israel & Weiner in Boston and co-chairman of the Boston Bar Association's Construction Law Committee, said the case "underscores the critical importance of reading and understanding your contract and having the proper representation to guide you through the process."

But Croft, who was not involved in the case, said he understands how a developer could end up in this position. "Far too often there is no guarantee, no bond, and they are just happy to get the work. They proceed and they just hope to get paid," he said. "Nowadays, contractors are looking for greater payment assurances before starting the work than they had been when the economy was stronger."

The article addresses the Superior Court ruling that a non-client cannot sue a lawyer in an effort to recover money from a failed development deal. It was published in the November 2, 2009 issue of Mass Lawyers Weekly
